Teach me to do your will, for you are my God; may your good Spirit lead me on level ground. Psalm 143:10
Sometimes when I need encouragement I head to the Psalms. Today’s verse on the YouVersion app was Psalm 143:10.
This verse is both an encouragement and a challenge. The encouragement comes from the reminder that we serve a good God and that we can safe in learning from God. The challenge comes from the same thing – that we can be safe and trust in God’s teaching. Being teachable is hard for many people at times, including myself. Being teachable requires humility, it requires a servant’s heart, it requires obedience, and it requires listening. We must listen to God in order to learn from God. We can trust that God will go before us, preparing the way for what lessons God wants to teach us and. We must be obedient in order to learn and to follow. A teacher is meant to be followed, so learning can take place.
Let’s strive be people who are willing to follow and be teachable, letting God transform us more and more into the character of Jesus, The Son.
On the journey together,
