This is how God showed his love among us; He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live for him. 1 John 4:9
Can you imagine loving anyone enough to give up your own son? It is hard for us to fathom this kind of love in our human minds, however, it is this deep of a love that God has for each and every one of us. God desired to have a path for us to be restored to himself as we were originally intended to be This gift came in a manger in Bethlehem a couple thousand years ago – as a human baby, who was not only human but also fully God. He did not send his Son to overthrow the Romans or to restore what the people at the time thought was the right way to do things. Instead, Jesus Christ was sent into the world as a helpless baby.
God loved us each so much that Jesus was sent to serve and not be served. He served all people, including those that society cast aside or were deemed unworthy. This is a great reminder for us as we start a new year. We should take a good look at how Jesus treated other people and strive to follow that example. If the Church did this today, it might be surprising how God would use that type of servanthood for the furtherance of His Kingdom and the revival that might spark as a result.
Let’s strive to treat people like Jesus did throughout 2023.
On the journey together,
