On November 20 the you verse bible app’s verse of the day was Romans 12:2.
“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
For some reason that verse, though I had read it several times, it hit me in the moment that I read it that day. I was at work and it was a hard Saturday and this verse made me think. I had been quick to conform to that way that many people acted and behaved. I had conformed to the behavior of the people at my work, acting in the way that many of them acted, and being so frustrated and mad at the smallest things. It was only when I read this verse that I understood how much I was not acting like Christ. That I was not doing God’s will.
This made me think about this time of year. How many of us get wrapped in it – in the rush, pressure and drama of it all. How we all start to get frustrated around this time of year with people, God, or government. The time of year that is meant to be a time of hoy, the world seems to turn it upside-down, and how we as Christians tend to do that. We tend to panic about presents, food, family, shopping, doing everything we need to do in order to make this the best Christmas yet, but in doing so we are conforming to the patterns of the world.
